Male Teachers Vs. Female Teachers

Why is it that students at Rangeview High School prefer male teachers to female teachers? The results of a recent survey concluded that students would rather have a male teacher in the classroom versus a female teacher. However the question remains, why male teachers?


“Female teachers don’t seem to be as in touch with the students emotions, while on the other hand male teachers tend to be more understanding and compassionate,” said Desiree Young, a senior attending Rangeview.

Students want a teacher who does not show their personal emotions and does not take everything to the heart. Male teachers do not have this problem, while some female teachers do.

“Male teachers are more laid back and outgoing they like to have fun with their students, and females are more strict, they like to get straight to business, no questions asked,” said Jaylnn Fortt, a sophomore.

Some students say that male teachers form better relationships with their students, while female teachers do not demonstrate the same quality. Could these be the reasons why male teachers are chosen over female teachers?

Female teachers show their emotions when they are mad, sad, or tired. Male teachers don’t they just go with the flow and keep their feelings to themselves. Even though male teachers are preferred more, male teachers also seem to be more serious and down to business. They don’t beat around the bush. On the other hand female teachers sometimes do.

It is not bad to have a female teacher, it can be a good, because they force you to make sure that you have all your work done. As well as when lectures are given to the class it can sometimes be helpful to others.

Male teachers do not really give lectures about life and school. “They sometimes let you learn the hard way,” said Kaleiah Hicks, a sophomore. It is good to have a female teacher and a male teacher, but male teachers are just preferred. They both have benefits.

Male teachers tend to get angrier when students take them for granted and misbehaves in class. Female teachers try to work through things and compromise with the class. Male teachers are easier to upset than female teachers. “It’s scarier when a male teacher is mad.” Said Stefon Newman a freshman. Even though female teachers can be nice at times and have great teaching techniques, majority of the students attending school still pick male teachers over female teachers.
