One Act Festival

The 2009 One Act Festival is approaching and it’s going to be good one. There acts and they all look to be very entertaining and fun. The date for the festival is set for the 14th of December, tickets are 2$ and the festival starts at 3:30 and goes until 9:00. Every theatre class will be evolved in the festival. The four Intro to theatre classes and BPA will perform One Act and APA will perform 5 One Acts.


Some of the Acts include Jesus Christ Superstar, Faces of Freedom, The Gingerbread Girl, When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet, Zoo Story and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Every Act has been worked on very hard and they should all be worth watching. Most are comedy with one or two dramatic acts.

The Acts are directed by both students and teachers. There are many different directing and acting styles, which promises a very interesting night full of great shows. Everyone find a show that they enjoy which makes for an excellent time for everyone. “The One Act Festival has a great variety and I’m most excited for the Gingerbread Girl, it will be overly funny and cheesy and defiantly will make you laugh,” said Junior Nicole Goeke.

When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet Directed by Kristi Grawe is a comedy about when Shakespeare’s biggest female characters meet and there gossip session about Romeo. A new age show with modern comedy written in old Shakespearean style is sure to entertain any theatre fan. With characters like Juliet, Ophelia, Cleopatra and Portia it will turn out to be a very interesting situation. “Shakespeare’s Ladies is going to be awesome, a parody of some of Williams best, “I’m the Serpent of the Nile Men quake and quail before me!”,” stated Junior Madison Ritter who is playing Cleopatra.

The Gingerbread Girl Directed by Dural Thomaslov, is a simple yet funny family comedy sequel to the Gingerbread Man. It is very silly and cheesy but a fun show to watch. The baker who created the gingerbread man accidently created another crazy cookie that wreaks havoc. A crazy cast of characters including Igor, a mad scientist baker, three goofy cops and a crazy cookie on a rampage. “I think people will enjoy this show, its family orientated and filled with fun,” said Junior Ben Cupples.

Faces of Freedom Directed by Mrs. Scott and performed by the BPA class, is drama type show about many different people of different cultures, times and ethnicity. It tells the story about several people from all over the world and with different backgrounds and stories. It should be a very good performance that is touching and one to remember.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Directed Mrs. Stouse and performed by the Period 1 Intro to Theatre Class is a comedy about a Christmas Pageant gone all wrong. This is a hilarious family comedy that will be a very enjoyable experience for the whole family. This play is a One Act tradition and this version will be just as funny as all those before in the past. It is promising to be a great show and just in time for Christmas.

These are just a few of the ten One Acts that are to be performed, each one bringing its own style and character to the festival. This is defiantly a school event that you will not want to miss. “The Festival is an important experience for all students, because it allows threatre students to build their skills and provides variety of the arts to other students,” said Senior Taylor Hunt

The One Act festival for 2009 is shaping up to be a great one and something that you defiantly do not want to miss. It is going to be an excellent show with many different Acts, directing and acting styles. Every level of the Rangeview Theatre will be performing from Intro to Theatre, to Beginning Performing Arts to, Advanced Performing Arts. The 2009 One Act Festival is going to be a memorable night of fun, entertainment and excitement that you will want to be there for.
